Mysore Basics
To make is easier to get started, we've combined
Fundamentals and Ashtanga Basics into one fun-filled class
called Mysore Basics. It'll teach you the basic poses and
how to put those poses together in the sun salutations. The
sun salutations in Ashtanga are different than they are in
other types of yoga, so again, it's a good idea to hit this
class even if you have a bunch of yoga experience. The goal
is to memorize the sun salutation. Once you do that, you
can move on to Mysore! Some people are able to move on
after just one stop in Basics, while other people benefit
from a few classes. It's meant to be a step stone and not a
resting place, so as soon as you've got the hang of the sun
salutations -- they don't need to be perfect! -- you should
move on to Mysore.
MYSORE!!
We've packed the schedule full of Mysore practice sessions
day and night. Find one that fits your schedule and come on
in! There will be students of all levels, don't worry if
there are some yoga experts in your class. You'll each be
working on your own things. All you have to do is go in,
find yourself some floor space, and start doing those sun
salutations that you learned in Basics. The instructor will
help you out if you forget anything and will add poses when
you are ready. Don't overdo it! It's best to start small
with short practices and add on gradually so you don't beat
your body up. Come often, so you don't forget what you've
learned and so you can stretch away any soreness. Your
practice will grow quickly and you'll immediately start to
feel the benefits!
