Unlike most styles of yoga, Ashtanga Yoga is a full body aerobic workout. To prove it, we had some of our students practice while wearing heart rate monitors. Their heart rates stayed in their target range for over an hour, giving them all the benefits of an aerobic workout, plus they each burned over 500 calories! Ashtanga Yoga when practiced in a Mysore style class is an individual practice. It gets harder as you get better. That way, you continue to get a great workout no matter how long you've been practicing. No exercise better combines strengthening, stretching, and aerobic conditioning than Ashtanga Yoga!
